Francine has sixteen years experience treating dogs and cats with behavior problems. She has consulted on hundreds of cases for every type of aggression in dogs and cats, separation anxiety, barking, phobias, fear reactions, destructiveness, inappropriate elimination, escape, urine marking, scratching, housesoiling, litter box issues, compulsive disorders and more.
Francine teaches clients various humane approaches to dealing with these problems that include behavior modification techniques (based on learning theory and positive reinforcement only), suggested environmental changes, daily management and obedience training – all part of a behavioral management and modification plan.
Certification as a canine obedience instructor from Animal Behavior College, Completed extensive study of learning theory and modern obedience instruction.
Diploma in Canine Behavior Counseling from the American College of Applied Science (ACAS).
A BA from Syracuse University.
Master of Science (MS) degree (in progress) in Applied Animal Behavior Science and Family Counseling for Companion Animals, from the American College of Applied Science (ACAS). Completed all coursework and requirements except thesis. Studies included canine and feline behavior, ethology, animal behavior, animal learning, conditioning, animal psychology and veterinary psychopharmacology.
Three semesters of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) toward a certification as an aBCBA (Associate Board Certified Behavior Analyst) with the Florida Institute of Technology.
Certified Associate Member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). Certified Animal Behavior Consultants with this association are required to demonstrate competency in five core areas including assessment and intervention strategies, counseling skills, behavioral science, knowledge of animal behavior, and species-specific knowledge.
Francine stays up-to-date on the science of animal behavior and constantly takes courses in a variety of topics. Some of these include: Assessing Aggression, Canine Body Language, Pet First Aid, FAR Beyond Dog Training: Fear, Anxiety and Reactivity, The CARE Protocol, Resolving Feline Issues-Soiling Outside the Box, BAT (Behavior Adjustment Training) and many more.
Prior experience includes 30+ years in the marketing and advertising fields before pursuing a professional interest in applied companion animal behavior.
